It was the perfect start to a December day—the sighting of a baby deer in the field outside our barn.  Beauty abounds in nature this time of year, and it falls in place with the spirit of the season.  Christmas is everywhere!  You can feel it in the air.  You can see signs of Christmas in pine cones and poinsettias.  You can smell it in scented candles glowing and Christmas cookies baking.  You can hear it in children’s voices singing much-loved carols like “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger.”

There seems to be a rush to get things done.  There are gifts to wrap, trees to decorate, and lights to hang; there are decisions to make on how to dress for festive occasions; and there are Christmas cards to address, Christmas movies to watch, and Christmas programs at churches to see and experience.

We always enjoy seeing Christmas decorations on our daily drives—wreaths on the doors of homes and churches and candles in the windows.  A Nativity display on the lawn of a local church is always a favorite to see.  Whatever your traditions, may you and your families enjoy this beautiful season we call “Christmas” as you celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Saviour and Lord.
