Songwriters to perform Oct. 14 at library’s Fountain City Music Festival

The annual “Fountain City Music Festival,” a free concert featuring members of the Knoxville Songwriters Association, will begin at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Fountain City Library, 5300 Stanton Road.

KSA president Larry Cope said members of the group will perform original songs and tell the stories behind them. “We’re grateful to the Fountain City Library for hosting our weekly meetings and for this opportunity to share our music with the community,” he said.

The Knoxville Songwriters Association meets each Tuesday in the library’s community room. The group has a jam session at 5 p.m., followed by a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. that includes, song critiques, music news updates and speakers and continuing education activities.

KSA’s annual membership dues are $30 ($15 for writers under 21 years of age. Prospective members are welcome to attend two meetings at no cost to jam, have a song critiqued, and get to know other songwriters.

Over the years, KSA members have included Kim Williams, who was selected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and others who have written hits in country, bluegrass, and gospel music.
