The O’Connor Senior Center Offers Fun New Classes To Keep You Healthy, Creative, & Inspired

The John T. O’Connor Senior Center is excited to announce the addition of three new classes designed to support the health, creativity, and social well-being of older adults in the community. Known for offering free Center membership and a wide variety of free and low-cost programs to adults age 50+, the Center continues its mission to provide opportunities that enhance physical fitness, artistic expression, lifelong learning, and meaningful connection. The new classes—Everyday Fitness with Tricia, Card Making, and Scrapbooking—expand the Center’s already robust lineup of exercise, arts and crafts, recreational, educational, and health-focused offerings.

Everyday Fitness with Tricia focuses on improving strength, balance, and overall fitness through approachable seated, standing, and modified exercises. This beginner-friendly class is ideal for individuals with limitations or those new to exercise. Offered exclusively at O’Connor Senior Center, the class meets Mondays and Fridays at 9:00 a.m.

Card Making Class offers step-by-step instruction—no experience needed—to create beautiful handmade greeting cards. Supply kits are provided; participants should bring their own adhesive. Classes take place on the first Friday of each month from 1 pm – 3 pm The cost is $15 per class.

Scrapbooking Class, offered on the third Friday of every month from 1 pm – 3 pm, guides participants through layout design, color theory, and embellishment techniques to transform personal photos into unique keepsakes. A supply kit is available for $35, and participants are asked to bring their favorite photos and adhesive.

“These new classes really reflect the heart of our mission,” said Mary Sibbett, program manager of the O’Connor Senior Center. “We want to offer programs that support the whole person—physically, socially, and creatively. Whether someone wants to build strength, learn a new craft, or enjoy time with friends, these classes provide fun and accessible ways to do just that.”
