Concert and Live Radio Show Now a Regional Series
The award-winning public radio station WDVX, known as “East Tennessee’s Own,” proudly announces that the popular live concert and radio show “Tennessee Shines” will become a regional series beginning August. Free Dirt Records Americana duo The Montvales, along with Appalachian folk trio Garrett Boys, two bands with East Tennessee connections will perform live. The show will also be broadcast live on WDVX radio and at wdvx.com.
Since 2008, WDVX has been bringing incredible talent to the “Tennessee Shines” stage, and its most recent home has been the historic Bijou Theatre in downtown Knoxville. And even though WDVX calls Knoxville home, being “East Tennessee’s Own,” is the station’s priority, and the focus for “Tennessee Shines” is now to become a show that features this talent not only on stages around East Tennessee, but on our airwaves and stream around the world.
WDVX GM Tony Lawson stated “WDVX has a goal every day to bring great music to our listeners, and “Tennessee Shines” is another important way for the station to be able to do just that. We strive to create community, and uplift folks in these communities with great live music. Being able to take “Tennessee Shines” on the road around our region will allow us to be able to do an even better job at making this happen. We are very excited about this opportunity!” Since WDVX’s air signal reaches fifteen different counties in and around East Tennessee, the station will be looking for opportunities in several counties in our region, including Sevier County, Anderson County, and more.
Both The Montvales, and Garrett Boys are touring to support new albums, and this show will be a “listening room experience” inside the upstairs room at Bluetick Tavern. Only 100 tickets will be available to purchase, and they are $20 each, with applicable fees, and are available through Eventbrite.com, and a link is at WDVX.com. Doors open at 6 p.m., and show time is 7 p.m. “Tennessee Shines” is sponsored by Corona Extra, Tennessee Stone.
