Step back in time and commemorate John Sevier’s 281st birthday at the Annual Sevier Day Celebration, held at Marble Springs State Historic Site on Saturday, September 19th, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free and suitable for all ages!

This family-friendly event promises a day packed with 18th-century activities, music, lectures, and hands-on crafts. Guests will enjoy the Sevier Story from our very own John Sevier, as well as immersive demonstrations on blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, broom-making, weaving, pottery, and more.

Come see the Knoxville Irish Step Dancers who will perform a lively traditional dance at the pavilion at 12:30 PM. Then, at 1:15 PM, The Bearded Trio will perform a one-hour set, filling the site with live music throughout the afternoon. And finally, at 2:30 PM, Dr. Michael Lynch will present a lecture on the Overmountain Men and their importance in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. Learn more about these frontier militia groups, their role in the Revolutionary War, and John Sevier’s place among the Overmountain Men during this pivotal period in early Tennessee history.

Come experience the people, skills, and history that shaped early Tennessee!

This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.
