On Friday, September 18, 2026, the Captain Bill Robinson Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America will conduct an observance of National POW / MIA Day.
The ceremony will be held at the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in Worlds Fair Park in downtown Knoxville.
The event is presented by AARP Tennessee and will offer free coffee and refreshments at 9:00 a.m., followed by the ceremony at 10:00 a.m.
Jason Hardy, Knoxville Opera CEO, will sing the National Anthem. The featured speaker will be Knox County Mayor Betsy Henderson, who will place a wreath at the Vietnam War Veterans monument. The colors will be presented by the Bearden High School Navy Junior ROTC. Members of the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard will present the Missing Man Table Ceremony and provide a rifle volley and Taps at the conclusion of the observance.
The public is encouraged to attend.
