Shafer Insurance Agency and Young-Williams Animal Center are teaming up to help more animals find loving homes with a special adoption day on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
As part of the event, Shafer Insurance Agency will cover adoption fees for eligible animals adopted during the event, giving members of the community an opportunity to welcome a new four-legged family member while helping animals in need.
The adoption day will take place at Young-Williams Animal Center, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, at 6400 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs and cats, learn more about the adoption process, and find out what it takes to provide a safe and happy home for a new pet.

We’ve seen firsthand what a difference an animal can make in a family, and that’s what makes this partnership with Young-Williams so meaningful to us. We’re happy to do our part to help these animals find loving families and a place to call home.”
Young-Williams Animal Center serves as the municipal animal shelter for Knoxville and Knox County and works to provide shelter, care and resources for animals in need while connecting them with adoptive families.
“Adoption events like this give people a chance to meet animals who are ready for their next chapter,” said Blake Honeycutt, Volunteer and Events Coordinator of Young-Williams Animal Center. “We’re grateful to Shafer Insurance Agency for helping remove one of the barriers to adoption and for bringing additional attention to the many animals waiting for homes.”
While adoption fees may be covered by Shafer during the event, standard Young-Williams adoption procedures and requirements will still apply. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit Young-Williams Animal Center or contact the shelter ahead of the event to learn more about available animals and the adoption process.
