Community members, local businesses, golfers and supporters from across East Tennessee will gather for the ALS Association Charity Golf Tournament, a fundraising event dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The tournament will raise critical funds (Over $20k already raised) for the ALS Association’s mission to provide care services, advocacy, and research aimed at finding treatments and ultimately a cure for ALS. Participants will enjoy a day of golf, fellowship, and community engagement while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those impacted by this devastating disease.
This event is being held in honor of Doug Irwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was diagnosed with ALS. Known for his love of sports, the outdoors, his family and friends, and a glass of good whiskey, Doug has spent years supporting his community and creating lasting memories with family and friends. His courage and determination throughout his ALS journey have inspired those around him and served as the driving force behind this fundraising effort.
“ALS impacts not only the individual diagnosed but entire families,” said Tessa Lindsey, Doug’s daughter. “Through this tournament, we hope to raise awareness, provide support for those currently battling the disease, and help fund the research that will one day lead to effective treatments and a cure.”
Every dollar raised will help advance the ALS Association’s efforts to:
- Support individuals and families living with ALS
- Expand access to care and resources
- Advocate for those affected by the disease
- Fund promising research initiatives
