Starting with the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 19, Knoxville City Council meetings will begin at 6 p.m. rather than 7 p.m. And the monthly meetings of Council’s Beer Board will begin at 5 p.m. rather than 6 p.m.

Vice Mayor Duane Grieve, who represents the 2nd District on City Council, said Council members agreed that the earlier time would make it more convenient for constituents to attend Council meetings. Council voted to approve the changes this month.

“This will still give people time to get there after work, but it will get everyone home to their families an hour earlier,” Grieve said. “We want to make our meetings as accessible as possible.”

Council meets every other Tuesday in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building. For those who can’t attend, Council meetings are also broadcast live on the Community Television cable channel and online at http://www.ctvknox.org/.
