~ from the Office of Neighborhoods

If you live in Colonial Village Neighborhood, you are invited to a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at the South Knoxville Church of God, 5623 Magazine Rd. to give input about the future of South Knoxville’s Gary Underwood Park. The six-acre park includes a soccer/football field, Gary Underwood Greenway, a playground, a shelter, and the South Knoxville Optimist Club Building, which is available for rental.

Several months ago, neighbors from Colonial Village approached the City of Knoxville about improvements they would like to see at Gary Underwood Park. In order to make plans for investments in the park, the Parks and Recreation Department needs to hear from the neighborhood that the majority of people want these improvements.

Neighbors have been going door to door to get the word out and to invite folks to this input meeting. Representatives from Parks & Rec and the Office of Neighborhoods will be present to help answer any questions neighbors might have.

This is the time to give input. If you live in the neighborhood and want to see upgrades, please join the discussion.
