The Community Health Council’s Cancer Subcommittee is hosting a health screening for the community at InterFaith Health Center (7005 Middlebrook Pike) on Friday, October 23.
Various health and cancer screenings will be offered at the event, including blood pressure, A1C, colon cancer and lung cancer screenings, and women’s health screenings. Women’s health screenings will have a sliding scale fee, and all other screenings are free. Women’s health screenings will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and all other screenings and partners will be available from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Partners include the University of Tennessee Medical Center, InterFaith Health Center, KAPA Kitchen Food Pantry, Knox County Health Department, River Valley Health, Second Harvest, which will provide produce boxes, and WellPoint, which will share information about TennCare enrollment.
“We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life, and that begins with access to preventive care and early detection,” said Rob Patrick, Executive Director for the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Foundation and Community Health Council member. “By coming together with our community partners, we hope to remove barriers, provide peace of mind, and empower individuals and families to take meaningful steps toward healthier futures. If we can make a difference in even one person’s life through early detection, education, or connection to care, then our efforts have truly made an impact.”
