Knox County Schools will host a community meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29, to share plans for a new Lonsdale Elementary School.

The public is welcome to attend the Open House-style meeting, which will include presentation boards and schematic designs, and an opportunity to discuss the project with architects, contractors and officials from KCS and Knox County government. All attendees must wear masks and follow physical distancing guidelines.

In October 2019, the Knox County Board of Education approved a Memorandum of Understanding to transfer the Lonsdale Park property from the City of Knoxville to Knox County, for the purpose of building a new Lonsdale Elementary School. Construction on the new school is expected to begin in the spring of 2021, and the school is expected to open in the fall of 2022. The new school will serve students from Lonsdale Elementary and Sam E. Hill Primary.
