The Hardin Valley community will come together to help one of its own Saturday.

Hardin Valley Academy will host a cornhole tournament to help HVA graduate and former Hawks football player Trey Byrd.

Byrd, a 2011 graduate of the school, was injured in a diving accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

The cornhole tournament begins at noon Saturday in the upper parking lot at HVA.

The event is open to teams of two players and cost is $40 in advance or $60 at the door.

A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the winner and there will also be prizes for second and third place.
