In preparation for the Annual MLK Parade and Memorial Tribute, The MLK Commemorative Commission would like to ensure that participants are informed of the parade route and tribute service. The MLK Parade Monday, January 21, 2019 will begin at Midway (Chilhowee Park) 3300 E. Magnolia Avenue, Knoxville TN 37914. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Andrews Electric Services 3404 Martin Luther King Jr Ave.; Step-off will start at 10:00 a.m.

The Midway Chilhowee Park entrance is directly off of North Beaman Street, parallel to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. The parade route will run through MLK Blvd and end on Harriet Tubman Street. Following the parade, the Memorial Tribute Service will take place at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville TN 37915.  Parking is available on Beaman St and Linden St.

“The MLK Commission strives to honor Dr. King with a community effort of providing a visual and audible tribute that engages people from all walks of life. We are thankful for the City of Knoxville, Knox County, and surrounding area’s continued support every year as we honor his great works with our guests and parade participants,” said MLK Commission Parade Chair Mabrey Duff.

For those participating in the parade, there will be two locations for parking. Participants can park on Beamon St and Linden St, the Randall E Nichols Family Justice Center at 400 Harriet Tubman St, on Harriet Tubman St and Overcomers Believers Church parking areas. KAT buses will pick-up those who will be participating in the parade and park in the Harriet Tubman area. At 8:00 a.m. KAT will transport those participants who will be in the parade to the Midway Chilhowee Park entrance; they will transport individuals every 20 minutes until 2:00 p.m.
