Knoxville Zoo is hosting an information fair for people who are interested in volunteering their time and talents to the zoo’s mission of education and conservation. The zoo’s Volunteer Fair will be held on Saturday, January 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Knoxville Zoo.
Knoxville Zoo’s Volunteer Fair gives prospective volunteers the opportunity to talk with current volunteers and zoo staff to learn more about the variety of ways to get involved with Knoxville Zoo. Adult and youth volunteers assist zoo staff throughout the zoo, during special events and at off-site educational programs.
Zoo volunteers are required to work a minimum of 50 hours and attend six monthly meetings each year. The sign-up cost to cover uniforms and training materials is $75.00 for adults over 18 and $125.00 for ages 13 to 17. New volunteers must also be a Knoxville Zoo member to enter the program.
Knoxville Zoo is Knoxville’s largest year-round attraction. Located off exit 392 from Interstate 40, the zoo is open every day except Christmas Day. Knoxville Zoo is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is committed to the highest standards in animal care and well-being, ethics, conservation, and education. Currently, the zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Admission and ticket sales stop one-hour before the zoo closes.
