Local Non-Profit Hand Up for Women Kicks Off Online Auction Raising Funds to Help Local Women

Knoxville-based nonprofit, Hand Up for Women is hosting its annual Hand Up for Change online auction fundraiser. The auction is live now. Bidding runs until 10:00 p.m. October 30.

One hundred percent of proceeds from the auction go to support local women who have hit rock bottom and are choosing a better path forward. Since 2003, Hand Up for Women has aided hundreds of local women living in poverty or on public assistance for various reasons. These are women who may need help overcoming addiction or escaping an abusive relationship and have no support to do differently.

Hand Up for Women provides support systems and mentorship as well as a series of classes to teach women career-readiness, computer skills, personal care, interpersonal skills and spiritual development to help equip them with the skills they need to achieve a self-sustained life.

There are hundreds of items to bid on including a Pat Summit autographed basketball, and Josh Heupel autographed football, gift cards to local stores and restaurants, several handmade gifts from local artisans and makers, jewelry, several travel getaways, tickets to local attractions and more! It’s a great way to kick off holiday shopping while helping a good cause.

“We are grieved by the hopelessness experienced by women in Knox and surrounding counties,” said Executive Director Eva Pearce. “We are passionate about serving more women and offering them the support they need to live a more abundant life. Our graduates have told us that our series of life management, career-readiness, and spiritual development classes helped them to become more personally strong and self-sufficient in every aspect of life.”

The funds from this auction will help Hand Up for Women enrich the lives of local women who desperately need the hand up.

A special thanks to sponsors Broadway Automotive and Midway Rehabilitation Center for their support.
