LWVKKC to host forum for Knoxville Municipal Judge candidates

To enable voters to hear the candidates respond to questions about important issues in the Aug. 29, City of Knoxville Primary Election, the League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox Co. is sponsoring a candidate forum with its partners.

Who: All candidates for Municipal Judge have been invited: Andrew Beamer; Tyler M. Caviness; John R. Rosson, Jr.; and Mary L. Ward

When: Monday, July 24, 2023, 6:30-8 p.m.

Where: Fellowship Hall, Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, 37919. Parking is available at the venue

 

Early voting will begin Wednesday, August 9, 2023, and election day is Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues.  Candidate forums sponsored by the League honor the League’s longstanding nonpartisan practices to ensure trust, respect, and fairness to all who participate. We use a standard set of guidelines for candidates, moderators, volunteers, and the audience.

The following organizations are partnering with the LWVKKC in this forum: the American Muslim Advisory Council, East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists, Institute of American Civics at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, Knoxville Area Urban League, Knoxville Branch of the NAACP, Knoxville News Sentinel, and Voter Turnout Coalition.
