Mabry-Hazen House is hosting its second Porch Time of the year on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM! Formerly known as Night At The Museum, this casual after-hours social has a new name to better reflect the sweeping front porch of Mabry-Hazen House, where folks gather and lounge. While the name has changed, the event still features the same chilled-out sunset vibes.
Attend for a chance to visit the house museum after-hours on a weekday and drink up a little history. Explore the 1858 historic house in an entirely different light as twilight falls upon Mabry’s Hill. From the grand wraparound porch, watch the sun sink behind Sharp’s Ridge while North Knoxville flickers alight.
Who doesn’t love a good front porch? Wrapping around three sides, Mabry-Hazen House’s stylish porch has long served as an informal place to sit in the shade, share a drink or story, listen to the birds or city, watch the world, and meet some new folks.
“Porches are a unique part of a home as they are physically situated between the private and public spheres of life. On one side of the door was your private world, but just down the steps is the public space, and often the most interesting parts of life happen in the cracks between,” said Patrick Hollis, Executive Director. “We plan for Porch Time to be one of those interesting moments in life where you can enjoy yourself, converse with people, and find community.”
This “historical happy hour” is not just about rocking chairs and golden skies; it’s about connecting with history and gathering at the museum to meet staff, volunteers, and local community members in a casual atmosphere.
The historic home will be open for self-guided tours with staff available for questions. There will be behind-the-scenes access to the bottom floor at 7:30 PM. Mabry-Hazen House will also share artifacts or objects that are not normally on display.
Outdoor seating will be set up on the front porch and lawn for groups to relax. Guests are encouraged to bring games, stories, blankets, and/or camp chairs.
Presale online tickets are $10 per adult, and visitors under 16 are free. A small processing fee is applied to tickets purchased online. Presale tickets can be purchased at: www.mabryhazen.com/porch-time
Tickets will also be available at the door for $13, and current Mabry-Hazen House members will still get in for $10.
Each purchased attendee ticket receives 1 (one) drink ticket, with additional drinks at $5 per ticket.
All proceeds benefit Mabry-Hazen House.
In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to the following week, May 27, 2026.
