About MLK:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader in the American civil rights movement, advocating for nonviolent resistance to overcome injustice. His work and legacy are celebrated nationwide, symbolizing the fight for equality, justice, and human rights.
History of Juneteenth:
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865, and more broadly the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. It is a day to honor resilience, freedom, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
Event Evolution:
The MLK parade was traditionally celebrated during Dr. King’s birthday in January. Since moving the celebration to Juneteenth, patrons have enjoyed the warmer weather and expanded festivities, making it a more vibrant and inclusive event for all.
Vendor Opportunities:
We are excited to announce that over 25 vendors are already confirmed for the event, offering a diverse range of goods and services. There are still some vendor spaces available, and we encourage interested parties to secure their spot soon. We request a “pay-what-you-can” $25 donation to reserve your vendor space.
