~ from Bike Walk Knoxville
Bike Walk Knoxville, a local nonprofit organization working to make the Knoxville region a better place to bike and walk for people of all ages, abilities, and background, is thrilled to announce an upcoming Walk with Elected Officials on Wednesday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. The tour will begin at Gresham Middle School (500 Gresham Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918), and the walk will be about a mile.
Bike Walk Knoxville’s tours with elected officials are a great opportunity to learn about how funding and policy impact infrastructure for biking and walking in our community, as well as to engage with constituents on the important issue of making our streets safe for all people. The tour will highlight walkability for students and community members in the area. We encourage participants to wear proper shoes and bring a water bottle!
This event is hosted with support from the Walkability Action Institute project team and will be a great opportunity to learn about how funding and policy impact infrastructure for active transportation in our community. The event will also feature a discussion about an exciting upcoming Paint the Pavement project in the area, facilitated by Cattywampus Puppet Council.
