Repairs are expected to begin next week to a sinkhole that has closed a portion of Kendall Road in West Knoxville.
Due to underlying, persistent sinkhole activity, the City of Knoxville closed the road between Gleason Drive and Twining Drive on Dec. 20th. A geotechnical engineer was hired to probe the sinkhole depth and make repair recommendations. The City has secured a contractor to make the necessary repairs. The contractor is being hired on an emergency basis so the repairs can be done as quickly as possible. The work is expected to take six to eight weeks to complete, at which time the road will be reopened.
