Users Earn Double the Points Through June 30, Redeemable at Area Theaters, Shops and Restaurants

Smart Trips promotes alternatives to driving alone in Knoxville and the surrounding areas, and now the program is rewarding those working from home to practice safe, social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Current and new Smart Trips users will earn double the commuter points for each day they log or have logged from home this year. That includes any teleworking day from January 1 to June 30, 2020.

Commuter points are earned through the Smart Trips website and app, and winners are drawn quarterly for prizes and gift cards to local businesses like Regal, Aubrey’s, The Tomato Head, Bliss and Mast General Store—each feeling the effects of COVID-19. Smart Trips purchases the bulk of its prizes from these area merchants and others, and with a large majority of people currently working from home, the program sees it as an opportunity to give back.

“Many people forget that teleworking is a ‘smart trip’ and whether you are doing it voluntarily or your offices are closed indefinitely,” said program coordinator Savannah Robertson. “The more days logged for rewards, the better our program can support those places that haven’t been able to maintain normal operations. As they navigate the next few months of uncertainty, we want to continue to do our part to help.”

Smart Trips is looking to help more businesses in the area, as the hospitality and entertainment industries continue to suffer from this unprecedented public health event. Those interested are asked to call 865-215-2916. To learn more or to sign up for the rewards program, visit knoxsmarttrips.org.
