21 Practice Sites Serving Knox and Surrounding Counties

Knoxville Youth Athletics is hosting their annual summer track and field program for local East Tennessee youth.

Running from May 31st – June 23rd, the Knoxville Youth Athletics Program exposes kids to the fundamentals of track and field. “Our goal for the program is to teach the basic skills most prevalent in the sport of track and field: running, jumping and throwing,” said Marty Sonnenfeldt, Knoxville Youth Athletics Director. “Our program is conducted with an emphasis on fun and fitness.”

The program is open to all girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 18. Practices are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00, at more than 21 schools in Anderson, Blount, Hamblen, Knox, Loudon and Sevier counties. The program will also offer four consecutive Saturday track meets, held June 4 11, 18, and 25 at area tracks. During the meet, youth from all locations will compete in events such as the 50-Meter dash, discus throw, relays, distance events and high jump. There are also parent’s events for moms and dads to get into the action.

Participants can register online, thru June 3 or on site at any practice location. Registration is $40 per participant (maximum of $105 per family), and includes a t-shirt. For more information,
