The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) honored Rep. Michele Carringer (R-Knoxville) as a 2026 THA Hospital Hero for her dedication and work on behalf of hospitals in Tennessee.
THA Hospital Hero Awards recognize lawmakers who prioritize policy issues that contribute to the health and wellness of all Tennesseans through their support for hospitals. As Population Health Subcommittee Chairman, she shepherds through quality healthcare legislation to move the needle towards more quality healthcare in Tennessee. Rep. Carringer was presented with the 2026 award at Parkwest Medical Center, with hospital and THA leadership in attendance.

Carringer is a true legislative champion for Tennessee hospitals,” said Wendy Long, M.D., THA president and CEO. “She has continually dedicated her time in the legislature, especially as Population Health Subcommittee Chairman, to efforts ensuring the long-term sustainability and strength of the hospital industry for years to come. Carringer has demonstrated steadfast leadership and strong support for Tennessee’s hospitals through her service as Chair of the Population Health Subcommittee and as a member of the House Health Committee. She is committed to strengthening health outcomes across the state, supporting Tennessee families, and advancing policies that help hospitals succeed in meeting the needs of their communities. Rep. Carringer understands the critical importance of access to high-quality care for patients served by Tennessee hospitals, including Parkwest Medical Center, and has been a valued advocate for initiatives that improve patient care and community health.
