Knox County and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) will sponsor Free Fishing Day from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 11 at The Cove at Concord Park (11808 S. Northshore Drive).

This event is geared toward families and children and allows those who participate to fish without a license for the day.

In the past, TWRA has provided rods, tackle, bait, and gifts, but this year participants will need to bring their own equipment as the event will be more scaled back in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pond contains bluegill and bass.

State officials noted that the day allows anyone, but especially children, the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport and to celebrate fishing as a wholesome and healthy recreation option.
