Due to recent weather, saturated soil conditions, and an unfavorable weekend forecast, KUB
and its contractor have extended the road closure on Western Avenue between the Keith
Avenue intersection and Richmond Avenue to remain in effect through Friday, May 17. This
work and road closure is part of an ongoing PACE 10 wastewater collection system
improvement construction project in the area. PACE 10 is KUB’s accelerated 10-year
wastewater improvement program to aggressively attack the problem of sewer overflows and to
provide a wastewater system that can better serve current and future customers.
The detour route remains in place around the work zone by way of Texas Avenue, Heiskell
Avenue, Johnston Street, Tennessee Avenue, and Schofield Street. While this section of
Western Avenue remains closed to through traffic, access continues to be maintained to area
businesses and driveways in the work zone. Emergency vehicles also have access. Signage
and traffic control devices are in place around the entire construction zone to direct motorists to
the detour route. This road closure remains in effect continuously until the extended completion
date.

Information about this project and road closure are posted on the KUB website at www.kub.org
and the KUB Facebook page. Customers may also call the KUB construction project hotline at
558-2330 to leave a message that will be responded to by a KUB representative by the end of
the next business day.
