The Salvation Army of Knoxville Opens Registration for Angel Tree and Silver Bells
The Salvation Army of Knoxville announces registration dates for families with children and/or seniors to register for this year’s Angel Tree and Silver Bells program. This hallmark Salvation Army program ensures children and seniors that are in need receive gifts and holiday joy during the Christmas season.
Registration will take place September 22–26, 2025, at The Salvation Army Activities Center, 409 N. Broadway, Knoxville (behind the main building). Hours are 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–4:00 PM daily. Registration is open to residents of Knox, Anderson, and Campbell counties.
Families registering children (ages 12 and under) for the Angel Tree program must provide:
- Photo ID or passport
- Birth certificate or proof of custody for each child
- Proof of assistance OR verification of income and expenses
Seniors aged 55 and up may register for the Silver Bells program using the same documentation.
The Angel Tree program began with The Salvation Army in 1979 when Majors Charles and Shirley White, serving in Lynchburg, Virginia, placed paper angels on a Christmas tree at a local shopping mall. Each angel represented the Christmas wishes of a child in need. The idea quickly spread across the country and has become one of The Salvation Army’s most beloved Christmas programs, bringing joy to millions of children and seniors each year across the country. In 2024, nearly 2000 children and almost 300 seniors were served by the Salvation Army and community partners through this important program.
“The Angel Tree program is about more than gifts under the tree—it’s about showing families and seniors that they are not forgotten and that this community cares,” said Major Paula Henderson. “Every gift represents hope to a family that is struggling during the Christmas season.”
The Salvation Army of Knoxville is also seeking sponsorship for our Angels from local businesses, churches, organizations, and community groups.
