Your Gift Goes Twice as Far During Second Harvest’s 15th Annual Double Your Donation Event on December 4th
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee will host its 15th annual Double Your Donation telethon at its Maryville facility on Thursday, Dec. 4, starting at 6 a.m. Gifts made this week, including Giving Tuesday, will be matched by generous sponsors up to $800,000. Gifts made to Second Harvest now through December 4th will count toward their goal of providing more than 2.4 million meals this winter, helping deliver staple groceries to families facing food insecurity. This support is especially important as the food bank approaches the post-holiday giving slowdown, when demand for assistance is at its highest.
“The high cost of groceries and interrupted SNAP benefits have placed a heavy burden on families this winter, particularly those already facing other financial hardships,” said Elaine Streno, CEO of Second Harvest. “Double Your Donation gives our community a simple way to provide meals during the colder months—so neighbors don’t have to choose between heat and groceries.”
