Women should not be getting between ICE agents and foreign fugitives.

By Dr. Jim Ferguson

In 1787, the Founders of our country formulated the most unique document in the history of humankind. Outside the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Ben Franklin was asked by a woman on the street, “What type of government have you given us?”

Franklin quipped, “A republic, Madam … if you can keep it.”

We have a constitutional republic, not a democracy. The first democracies occurred in ancient Greece. Unfortunately, humans are imperfect and, in a democracy, the majority rules and often abuses the minority. Ben Franklin explained democracy as “two wolves and a sheep, deciding what they will have for dinner.”

The Founders studied history and were terrified of democracy because of abuses in the Greek democracies. The Founders followed the lesson of Solon the Lawgiver of ancient Greece, who instituted laws to control their democracy and saved their civilization. The Founders constructed a constitutional republic for us, predicated on the rule of law to protect everyone from abuse. Notably, the word democracy does not appear in The Constitution or The Declaration of Independence.

These days, we are inundated with politically motivated buzzwords such as left, right, Nazi, etc. Perhaps the most constructive and straightforward lesson on such verbiage and the spectrum of government is a YouTube video called “Political Systems 101: Basic Forms of Government.” This short video is easy to find, and I highly recommend you watch the thought-provoking piece.

The types of government are depicted as a spectrum between the total government of, for instance, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, etc. and at the other extreme, anarchy, where there is no government. Between the extremes are Constitutional moderate forms of government where the rule of law protects the people from the abuses of dictators or lawless anarchists.

Across our nation, the Constitutional rule of law is under assault. The current flash point is the arrest of criminal illegal aliens by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Let us be clear about the law: criminals are subject to arrest and prosecution. And aliens in this country illegally are subject to deportation. You may disagree with a law and vote to change it, but you don’t have the option of disobeying the law without consequences.

Consider this hypothetical: Would the woman who was shot in Minneapolis have blocked the road and refused to obey a Minneapolis police officer attempting to arrest a murderer or a child rapist? There is no record of Ms. Good’s Minnesota ICE Watch group interfering with local police. But apparently, she disagreed with federal immigration law, and her protest took the form of obstruction of ICE officers attempting to arrest criminal aliens. She had become radicalized by Democrat leaders and the media, and when she blocked officers, ignored their orders and used her vehicle as a weapon, it cost her her life. As Vice President JD Vance said, her death is a “tragedy of her own making.”

Greg Gutfeld recently said, “The forever war is here” [in the US]. I hope he’s wrong. Peaceful protest is lawful and guaranteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. However, you cannot obstruct police operations or violate the law. Democrats have sent liberal Minnesota Karens – or Jessicas if you are Gen Z – to taunt and scream in the face of ICE agents and become cannon fodder if that promotes leftist ideology. The so-called “Minnesota nice” has become Minnesota vice, teeming with Minnesota scams and fraud.

I was recently introduced to the acronym AWFUL. It stands for Affluent, White, Female, Urban, Liberals. Instead of caring for their children, their families or working, these wokesters are in the streets. Apparently, they didn’t get the message that WOKE, the My Truth charade and DEI are dead. Liberal and mental TDS will not prevail against the law, ICE and the resolve of President Trump, who will invoke the insurrection clause and use the military if necessary to restore the rule of law.

Venezuela’s Maduro doubted the resolve of President Trump. He is now in jail awaiting trial. And as I write, the mullahs of Iran are on the brink of that same mistake. Along with the ongoing sanctions on Iran, Trump has levied a 25% tariff on any country trading with the terrorist state. Trump also asked Elon Musk to provide free Starlink to Iran. And the president advised Iranians to take the names of countrymen who are killing protesters. I hope these “non-kinetic” measures, along with a failed economy and staggering inflation, will help Iranians overthrow the radical mullahs. We’ll see.

President Trump seems to be tirelessly involved with everything. After fixing the border, he has moved on to correcting trade imbalances, drastically lowering inflation and rebuilding the economy and American industry while fighting drug cartels and Islamists who murder Christians. He continues to solve wars around the world while opposing China in our hemisphere and Iran killing its own people. Trump wants to secure Greenland for the anti-ballistic missile shield and to prevent Russia and China’s intervention in Arctic regions. Do you think Denmark can defend Greenland? As a show of resolve, the European Union did send five soldiers to Greenland last week.

Trump’s anti-fraud measures are also confronting problems in the government, where 5-10% of the budget ($377 billion) is stolen each year (Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent). The fraud in Minnesota, as well as in other states, is under investigation. Trump even comments on pro football kick-off rules, the college NIL (name, image, likeness) debacle, all the while battling Democrats who oppose everything he’s doing to Make America Great Again.

What a difference from Auto Pen. Democrats are furious that President Trump is fixing things. We have an active leader instead of a passive shill for anti-Americanism.

I don’t receive briefings like President Trump, but I keep up with a lot of things by reading extensively. However, eschatology, the study of end times, doesn’t interest me. Jesus was asked by his disciples when the end would happen. He said only the Father knows, so I don’t dwell on the unknowable.

Recently, the Bellamy Brothers released the song: “Normal Ain’t Coming Back, Jesus Is.” If he does, I’m ready, but I hope not yet.
