CHS alumni group hosts Wall of Fame induction breakfast

By Ken Lay

The Central High School Alumni Association recently held its first induction ceremony since 2019.

Once an annual event, the induction breakfast returned on May 16 and seven CHS alumni received their respective spots on the Wall of Fame on campus.

Gaylon E. Wilson, Don Carringer, Jon Miller, Justin Cox, Andrew (Andy) Ramsey, Marianne Worthington and Elizabeth Huling were all honored at an induction ceremony on Saturday, May 16.

“It was the largest event that we’ve ever had,” Central High School Alumni Association President R. Larry Smith said. “It was the largest as far as attendees and it was very well received by the community.

“Another thing that was special was that all the inductees had some classmates there with them and that’s really special.”

For Smith, the inductees and the other attendees, it was a chance to take a walk down Memory Lane as those at the event spent the morning reminiscing at the Central High cafeteria.

“Anytime you get together and have something like this, you always hear a lot of old stories,” Smith said. “And that’s always a lot of fun.”

Smith is already looking forward to next year’s event and said that the association is seeking nominations for induction for 2027.

“We’re looking for nominations,” he said. “If people want to make nominations, we’re asking them to do the research.

“We need to know what the nominees did and how they gave back to the community. We need more than just a name.”

Nominations may be made by contacting Smith at rlsmithins@yahoo.com or via text or phone at (865) 679-4106.
