With the possible exception of Senator John Fetterman and Harold Ford Junior, the Democrats have become more dangerous than Iran.

I have often wondered if commercials actually sell products. I suspect there is data to bolster the claim, but I still wonder. The numerous commercials advertising pharmaceuticals come to mind. When I practiced medicine, I was never once approached by a patient to prescribe some medication they had seen on TV. Neither do sports betting ads entice me. I wouldn’t wager a dollar to win $100. I might like the hundred dollars, but winning a bet would give me no joy.
My daughter loves horses; me, not so much. She follows the Triple Crown horse races and introduced me to the terms trifecta and perfecta. A perfecta is wagering on the first and second place finishers and a trifecta is picking the first three winners in a race.
Becky and I love to watch golf, baseball and are thoroughly enjoying the Stanley Cup hockey championship. I don’t share Becky‘s passion for basketball, which I suspect was kindled when she was a University of Tennessee cheerleader. I did watch parts of two games of the NBA finals.
This July 4, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. And this November is the extremely important midterm election. A third event is this summer’s World Cup soccer matches in Mexico, Canada and the US. My only interest in “European football” is the similarity of a soccer ball to a buckminsterfullerene (buckyball), a geodesic dome-like configuration of 60 carbon atoms.
Democrats are poised to complete their election trifecta. In 2008, the doltish Democrat Al Franken defeated Republican incumbent Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota by 312 votes out of 3 million cast, literally after a car trunk full of votes were “discovered” at the “eleventh hour.” Given the corruption in Minnesota, it was not surprising that Franken was reelected in 2014 or that he resigned in 2018 due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Then, during the Covid epidemic, Joe Biden defeated incumbent President Donald Trump. In that election, Biden received substantially more votes than either Barack Obama or Hilary Clinton received in their presidential runs, amidst allegations of ballot harvesting, non-citizen voting and numerous other questions of fraud.
And to complete the trifecta, the Republican Spencer Pratt was edged out by Democrat socialist Nithya Raman in California’s so-called gorilla primary and will compete against Karen Bass, the incumbent Democrat mayor of Los Angeles, America’s second-largest city. Way to go, Angelenos. You will have the choice between two Democrats: an incompetent Black woman and a socialist BIPOC woman.
Why should Knoxvillians care much about New York City, Seattle or Boston, all run by Democrat Socialists? Why should Tennesseans care about Los Angeles or California, where, at this writing, Republican Steve Hilton has persevered in the gorilla thing and will run for governor against former Biden cabinet member Xavier Becerra, who Ol’ Joe once called “Bacheria.” Perhaps Joe’s frazzled memory fused Becerra’s Latin ancestry with the Macarena.
But who knows how many boxes of votes may be found in Los Angeles car trunks as The [vote] Goes On, to borrow from Sonny and Cher. In Florida, vote counts were completed shortly after the polls closed. But then, California Democrats have to keep counting votes because they don’t know how many votes they need after Election Day.
We must care about the mess in California because it challenges the integrity of the vote everywhere. Americans have fought and died for the right of citizens to choose their representatives. If we don’t trust the vote, we have no trusted leadership and no country.
The SAVE ACT is promoted to address voting integrity. I’ve read that 85% of Americans support the legislation where voters must show photo ID, voters must show proof of citizenship, and no mail-in ballots are allowed except for illness, disability, military service or travel. The legislation has so far failed to pass, presumably because additional provisions were tacked on blocking men in women’s sports and blocking transgender surgery for children. So, we are left with the status quo and a potential disaster for the midterm elections.
In all wars, there are ups and downs, battles won and lost. Thomas Paine was a Founder and fought in our Revolutionary War. His influential pamphlets, “Common Sense” and “The American Crisis,” advocating separation from Great Britain, were very influential. I believe we are in a new American crisis due to the war with Iran, but even more important is the war against America by factions in our country. I see a greater danger from within than from without.
The Democrats now brazenly cheat while the media and elites praise them, apparently expecting their share of the spoils from the conquest of justice and morality.
In the opening segment of the movie “Gladiator,” Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius is defending the border against the barbarians. Our barbarians are not at the gate; they are already here and live among us.
The Democrats will steal the elections in California and then move on to the rest of the country. We are in a war for the soul of America.
This progressive destruction began decades ago, but accelerated with Obama, and then Covid allowed the Democrats to steal the election and put autopen in the White House. With the reelection of Trump, I thought there was hope, but 47 may be an interlude, just as threats from Egypt forced the Babylonians to retire from the siege of Jerusalem. But they quickly returned to complete the destruction.
“How Should We Then Live?” is the title of Francis Schaeffer’s book on Western Civilization, borrowing from the prophet Ezekiel 33:10. History repeats itself, and the wise learn from mistakes. I hope our leaders do. Schaffer concluded that the Bible is truth, we should have compassion for the lost, we must speak the truth, and God is with us. I’ve adopted these perspectives. They give me hope.
