Ordinarily, I don’t focus on the past because there’s nothing I can do about it. So, I’m trying to live more in the present, yet too often my concerns leap to the future. But recently the past dovetailed with the present to focus on the necessity of affecting the future.
I’ll bet you know where you were 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. I was seeing patients when a nurse stuck her head in the exam room and urgently said a plane just crashed into one of the Twin Towers. Everyone rushed to the TV only to see another plane hit the other tower less than 20 minutes later. It was then that we realized America was under attack.
I read that one third of Americans have no memory of the attack because they were either not yet born or were just children. I remember where I was when John Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, but I have no recollection of the Pearl Harbor attack because I was not born until 1951. I remember watching the first moon landing in 1969 with Becky, having just graduated from high school.
Sentinel events etch a place in a person’s life. I will never forget that September day in 2001 when thousands of Americans were slaughtered by Islamic terrorists. And yet some twisted ideologues don’t get it. We have been at war with radical Islam for nearly 50 years. However, as Secretary Bessent said, “America is no longer managing the Iranian threat – We are ending it.”
It is no wonder that some younglings are unaware of the danger radical Islam poses to Western Civilization. Only 15 states require that the 9/11 attack be included in the educational curriculum. To paraphrase George Santayana, “Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.” But what if they are not taught about the 9/11 attack or others? Are these educators and politicians just incompetent dullards? Or are they part of the “red-green alliance” of Marxists and Islamists’ continuing attack on America?
There is a justifiable outcry against racism or sexism where people are treated unjustly because of their race or sex. And I believe it is wrong to stigmatize a person because of their personal religious beliefs. Perhaps that is the crux of the matter. One’s personal beliefs may be different from institutional creeds or actions.
For example, Jewish individuals have been vilified for thousands of years. And antisemitism is widespread in Europe and America’s Democratic Party. Christians are still murdered for their beliefs across Africa and must hide in Muslim and communist countries. We repeatedly hear the term Islamophobia. I don’t fear individual Muslims, but admittedly I have become fearful of the “religion of peace” because I don’t see the peaceful nature of its radical jihadis.
But then I’m fearful of what the Democratic Party has become. That party is now run by crazies and communists. There are good people in the Democratic Party, but they will be judged by their party association. Likewise, I might have trouble seeing the good in a person who associates with the KKK. For this reason, I am not a member of any party, though in our imperfect world Republican candidates are often better than the alternative.
Maybe I’m not cut out to be a joiner and typically craft my own way. Admittedly, in my life I’ve been a Presbyterian, a Baptist, and a Methodist, but now I am a non-denominational Christian. I identify with Christ rather than marching under any institutional brand. Nonetheless, I love the church I now attend. And my Sunday School class members are some of the finest people I’ve been around in a long time.
Interestingly, President Trump is less a Republican than he is his own man. As a result, many Republican elites are less than accepting of his unique personality and style. While Democrats legislatively march in lockstep to their groupthink, many Republicans chafe at MAGA and Trumpism. But we’ve seen the alternative: Biden and the Democrats were a national, social, economic and foreign policy disaster.
President Trump is not on the midterm ballot, but Trumpism is. And if the Democrats are returned to power, your taxes will be raised, corruption will continue, the Iran and Ukrainian wars will not end, and our nation will be plunged into an endless impeachment morass.
If you think America should go the way of Democrat crazy, then vote for them and suffer the consequences, as will your children. Until the Democrats return to the realm of common sense, they cannot be trusted with power. Washington is already bad enough with RINOs, lawfare, aged politicians and ensconced unelected bureaucrats.
In keeping with my plan to outline the Trump administration’s accomplishments – which you will not see in the Democratic media – I’ll add these to the list I began last week:
The Trump administration has reduced Biden’s 9% inflation to ~ 3%.
Globalism has been a disaster as companies and capital fled America for cheaper foreign labor. We lost industry, and supply chain problems arose with critical shortages of materials and medications, including antibiotics. Trump’s tariffs and trade policies have reversed this process, with trillions of dollars of investments and manufacturing returning with jobs for Americans.
Trump’s energy policy has made America the largest producer of energy in the world. (Yes, I know gas prices have temporarily gone up, but we are not under the threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon). And by controlling Venezuelan oil and Iranian exports, we stopped discounted oil from going to China, inhibiting China from invading Taiwan.
Trump took on Big Pharma and established Trump Rx, leading to a 60% reduction in prescription medication costs.
And the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill prevented a massive tax hike and provided “no tax on tips, overtime and Social Security.” Assuredly, these will be reversed if the Democrat crazies return to power.
Enough for now, but stay tuned. Your responsibility as a citizen is to check my facts and vote to keep Democrats, socialists, crazies and communists away from the levers of power. Your future and your children’s future depend on it.
