Coach John Davis of the Oak Ridge Rowing Association’s Atomic youth program would like area high schoolers and their parents to know that the Atomic boys’ and girls’ rowing program starts up for the fall on August 31.

“You don’t need to have any rowing experience,” says Davis. “The first week is free, with no obligation. You can sign up and get more information at orra.org.” Workouts are Monday through Friday 4:15-6:15 p.m at the ORRA boathouse on Melton Lake Drive in Oak Ridge.

Davis, a former head coach at Stanford University, is the husband of Lady Vols assistant coach Wendy Davis. Atomic Rowing attracts rowers from area high schools including Bearden, Catholic, Farragut, Hardin Valley, Oak Ridge, and Webb. “We have former Atomic rowers at the Coast Guard Academy, Navy, Stanford, Temple, and UT,” says Davis.

ORRA is observing careful Covid-19 protocols. Davis can be contacted at jdavis@orra.org.
