For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, CAK is presenting musical theatre. This special one-hour performance of Singing in the Rain, Jr is being presented by middle school students.
“We have lots of COVID guidelines—that’s for sure,” says CAK Director of Special Events, Missy Standifer. “They are for both the cast and the audience.”
Many of the scenes were re-worked to keep the dancers further apart, and no two students are acting next to each other for more than 2-3 minutes at a time. In addition, all audience members are going to be socially distanced with seating that is six feet apart. “Our Ticket Coordinator has spent hours designing specific floor plan diagrams for each show in order to space out families so that we comply with the guidelines.”
All audience members are asked to wear a mask throughout the entire show and temperatures will be taken at the door.
“CAK feels it is important to try to ensure life and experiences are as normal as possible while still being safe and following guidelines,” says Standifer.
Singing in the Rain, Jr takes place October 29th and 30th at 7 p.m., and October 31 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. You can purchase tickets at the door at 529 Academy Way, Knoxville, TN.
