Carson-Newman celebrated as one of nation’s most transfer-friendly universities

For the fifth consecutive year, Carson-Newman is recognized for its approach to aiding students wishing to transfer to the University.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society named Carson-Newman to its 2025 Transfer Honor Roll. The honor is in recognition of Carson-Newman’s “excellence in developing and supporting dynamic, innovative pathways for community college transfer students.” The Honor Roll is chosen from among the top 25% highest-rated colleges in the nation.

“Being recognized again by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves as confirmation of the effective processes we have in place – but beyond that, it reveals the heart behind the work,” said Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler. “Our outstanding staff’s sense of mission and community translates daily in how they welcome new students to campus.”

The PTK Transfer Honor Roll recognizes Carson-Newman as one of the most transfer-friendly institutions in the nation. The distinction is determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life for transfer, admission practices, and bachelor’s degree completion.

“I’m proud of the transfer outcomes we’re seeing at these Honor Roll colleges,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “These colleges are doing more than just opening doors—they’re walking students through them. Their commitment to creating clear, supportive pathways demonstrates what’s possible when student success is truly the priority.”
