CITY OFFICES CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING; TRASH PICKUP SCHEDULE MOVED BACK A DAY

City of Knoxville offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This closure includes the 311 and 211 service phone lines. Residents who need to report issues to 311 over the holiday weekend may use the My Knoxville app for iPhone and Android. A list of social services and community resources for food, housing, mental health assistance, etc., is available at www.TN211.org.

There will be no household garbage or recycling collection on Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only days of the year when residential curbside trash and recycling are not picked up as scheduled. Waste Connections’ office will be closed Thursday.

Crews will run Thursday routes on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday; residents should have their carts ready for pickup by 7 a.m. on those days. Downtown garbage and recycling collection will run on a regular schedule, although there will be no Thursday pickup.

Limit your waste to the contents of your City-issued trash cart; no overflow trash or carts with lifted lids will be collected.

The City’s five recycling centers will be open, but the Goodwill attendant will not be available for household donations on Thursday, Nov. 23. Please don’t leave donations at recycling centers when they are unattended.

The City’s Solid Waste Facility, 1033 Elm St., will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 through the weekend, and will resume normal operating hours on Monday, Nov. 27.

Knoxville Area Transit buses and trolleys will not operate on Thanksgiving Day, and the Knoxville Station will be closed. KAT will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, Nov. 24, and regular service will resume Saturday, Nov. 25.
