The American Museum of Science and Energy (AMSE) is bringing science out of the lab and into the community with Family Science Day at the Casual Pint, located at 2045 Thunderhead Rd, Knoxville, TN, 37922. The event will take place on Sunday, November 9, from 2–5 PM.

Families, friends, and curious minds of all ages are invited to enjoy an afternoon of “Fizz, Foam, and Physics,” featuring interactive science activities, hands-on experiments, and casual fun, all in the relaxed atmosphere of one of Farragut’s favorite local spots.

“We wanted to create a fun, low-pressure way for families to engage with science,” said Courtney Beard, AMSE’s Director of Public Programs. “Our goal is to make science approachable and engaging for everyone. Events like this show that learning doesn’t just live in museums or classrooms. It can happen right at your neighborhood hangout.”

In the spirit of giving back, the Casual Pint will donate $1 to AMSE for every pint sold, every item from the kids’ menu, and each order of their famous pretzels and beer cheese during the event.

It’s the perfect excuse to snack, sip, and support science at the same time.

The event will feature stations that put science into action, including AMSE’s “elephant toothpaste,” along with games and demonstrations led by AMSE staff and volunteers. The Casual Pint will offer its full food and drink menu, and participants are encouraged to enjoy a bite or beverage while exploring the science behind everyday phenomena.

Families can drop in anytime between 2:00 and 5:00 PM.
