Help Knox County Fetch a Spot in the Top 10 Dog Parks in the USA!
One of our own parks is in the running for national recognition. Tommy Schumpert Park has been nominated in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Dog Park in the United States. We need help to bring home the win!
“Receiving a nomination for this award reflects the pride our community takes in providing awesome spaces that both our furry friends and their owners can enjoy,” said Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs. “We’re currently ranked second. Let’s keep the momentum going and get Tommy Schumpert Park the national recognition it deserves!”

Tommy Schumpert Park, located at 6400 Fountain City Road, features several multi-use sports fields, a pavilion, an 18-hole disc golf course, restrooms and walking trails. It also includes one of the best dog parks in Knox County. The dog park is divided into two areas: one for dogs 30 pounds and under, and another for dogs of any size, which includes a pond with a dock. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
