Jonesborough Genealogical Society hosting Genealogy Day

On Saturday, September 24, at 9:30 a.m. the Jonesborough Genealogical Society will host its Genealogy Day at the White House at Grace Meadows Farm, 170 John France Road, Jonesborough.
Angela Harris, owner of Fellowship Quilters, will be the speaker. She will present a program entitled, “Preserving Your Family Quilts and Heirlooms.” She is the founding President of Appalachian Heritage Quilters, a member of Old Town Quilters and Sycamore Stitchers Quilt Guilds. Harris began quilting when she retired from teaching in 1997 and discovered that she loved designing quilts.  She opened a quilting business in Jonesborough in Sept. 2009 to create quilts and sell items made by local quilters. In addition to quilting, Harris loves studying the history of quilting and has written articles on quilt history for the Herald and Tribune, as well as presented programs to local guilds.  Her talk will include the care and storage of old quilts, the origin of several of our oldest quilt patterns, and a display of antique quilts for the members to enjoy. Members are encouraged to bring their family quilts to share.
