Knox County Hosts Public Meetings for Unified Development Ordinance

Knox County has scheduled a series of public meetings for the Unified Development Ordinance, the third and final phase of Advance Knox. These meetings will provide updates on the process, present recommendations from the consultant team, and offer an opportunity for public feedback.

Four in-person open houses will give residents the flexibility to choose their preferred date and location and attend at their convenience. Each meeting will follow an open house format and include a presentation at 5:30 p.m. Presentations are not mandatory but will help orient participants with the material presented at various stations.

Knox County Parks and Recreation will host a Park & Play pop-up event at each open house to provide entertainment for children.

In-person meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Northshore Elementary School
  • Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ritta Elementary School
  • Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Powell Middle School
  • Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at New Hopewell Elementary School

Virtual participation is also available.

A virtual meeting will be held via Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 25, from noon to 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Additionally, the public can provide input on the project website from Sept. 26 through Oct. 5. All online materials will include the same information shared at the in-person meetings, with opportunities for comment.

Anyone requiring special accommodation to attend a meeting should contact the Knox County Mayor’s Office at 865-215-2005.
