Why should you give blood? Because your blood is vital to ease suffering! Check out young Dreylan’s story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd42e_6oHok. The Red Cross has been collecting blood since 1941; that’s over 80 years. In that time, we’ve discovered the importance of Ethnic Matching. Ethnic Matching of blood for transfusions is highly important because certain rare antigens, crucial for preventing transfusion complications, are more common in specific ethnic groups. When blood recipients receive blood from donors of the same ethnicity, the recipients fare so much better! Please join us at this Sickle Cell blood drive. All who give a successful donation, who identify as Black (not mixed or other), will receive FREE Sickle Cell Trait testing! Those who come to give will get these amazing incentives:
- FREE Sickle Cell Trait testing on all Black/African American pints collected
- $10 Amazon.com gift card in their email
- FREE Sickle Cell Fighter T-shirt!
- $20 Amazon.com gift card in their email (special incentive just for Sickle Cell drives)
The need for blood is constant, and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Thank you for supporting the American Red Cross blood program!
