To enable voters to hear the candidates respond to questions about important issues in the Nov. 2, 2021, City Council General Election, the League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox Co. is sponsoring a candidate forum in partnership with American Muslim Advisory Council, Centro Hispano de East Tennessee, East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists, Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, Knoxville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Knoxville Area Urban League, Knoxville Chapter of the NAACP, YWCA of Knoxville and the TN Valley. Blake Stevens of WATE will moderate the forum.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues. Candidate forums sponsored by the League honor the League’s longstanding nonpartisan practices to ensure trust, respect, and fairness to all who participate. We use a standard set of guidelines for candidates, moderators, volunteers, and the audience.
