Merrill Lynch presents a Swingin’ Christmas with Cyrus Chestnut and the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra’s popular holiday event, Swingin’ Christmas will be held on two nights on Thursday, December 20th at 8 p.m. and Friday, December 21st at 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. Pianist extraordinaire Cyrus Chestnut joins the band this year to help make your season bright. Music from Chestnut’s recording “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be highlighted this year, along with many other classics from the sacred and secular holiday traditions.
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece big band comprised of professional musicians from across the region. Since its inception in 1999, the orchestra has performed dozens of concerts in East Tennessee, appeared on major jazz festivals in Europe, performed and recorded with internationally acclaimed guest artists, and released four critically acclaimed CD recordings.
