Sunday, March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act, signed by President Trump in 2017, calls upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies to commemorate the Vietnam War. March 29 was chosen because on that day in 1973, the last U.S. combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam.
This year’s local observance will be conducted by the Captain Bill Robinson Chapter 1078 of Vietnam Veterans of America on Saturday, March 28.
The observance will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Monument in the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in World’s Fair Park. The ceremony will start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.
The keynote speaker will be USAF Captain Bill Robinson (Ret.), the longest held enlisted Prisoner of War in U.S. military history.
