Oak Ridge, Tennessee Selected as Host City for Nuclear Science Week 2025
National Celebration of Nuclear Science & Technology to Take Place October 20–24

The American Museum of Science and Energy Foundation (AMSEF) is proud to announce that Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the birthplace of the atomic age, has been selected as the official Host City for Nuclear Science Week (NSW) 2025, taking place October 20–24. This national celebration highlights the essential role nuclear science and technology play in powering a cleaner, safer, more innovative future. For Oak Ridge, it’s a chance to honor 80 years of leadership in nuclear innovation while inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and community leaders. Join us for dynamic experiences featuring a career fair, hands-on STEM education, a one-of-a-kind history showcase and a glimpse into the future of nuclear innovation.

A Week of Discovery, Innovation, and Community Engagement

Throughout the week, AMSEF and its partners will host events and activities designed to connect students, educators, industry leaders, and the public with the past, present, and future of nuclear science, including:

  • Monday, Oct. 20:
    • DOE Public Bus Tour of Manhattan Project sites (only operating if the government re-opens)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 21:
    • “New Nuclear” Dirt Tour Fully Booked
    • Innovation Lab Tours at Oak Ridge High School
    • Nuclear Career Fair at Roane State from 4-7pm featuring more than 30 companies
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22:
    • Atomic Education Summit – a hands-on STEM experience for thousands of students – open to the public from 4-7:30pm
  • Thursday, Oct. 23:
    • “80 Years of Atomic Innovation” program at the Historic Oak Ridge Playhouse
    • Historic Tennis Court Dance (only happening if government reopens) in partnership with the Manhattan National Park
  • Friday, Oct. 24:
    • ETEC Special Meeting with national leaders
    • DOE Bus Tour (only operating if the government re-opens)
    • Atomic Expo: Tomorrow’s Atomic Future – family friendly wrap up at AMSE from 4:30-7:30pm
