A furious Powell parent called into the Focus office today angry because she attempted 3 different routes before taking her child to Powell Middle School early this morning. According to the Powell resident, she lives less than a 10 minute drive to the school and still had difficulty finding a safe route. Upon calling the Central Office this morning to complain, she was informed that the roads were inspected between 4:00 am and 5:00 am this morning and deemed safe to drive. The woman added that the roads must not have been thoroughly inspected on the North side of town. The failure to close or delay schools comes as an even bigger surprise considering the Knox County Sherriff’s office reported the following roads as flooded this morning….
Beaver Creek @ Central Avenue Pike before the tracks
Byington Solway @ Karns
Ebenezer @ Brucewood
W. Beavercreek @ Thornbrook
Emory @ Clapp’s Chapel
Flint Gap @ Thorngrove
Emory @ Rodgers
Harrell @ Oak Ridge
Emory @ Conner
George Williams @ Shelbyville
Johnson between Ball & Schaad
Beeler @ Stormer
Emory @ Sharp
Shipe @ Washington Pike
Schaad @ Oak Ridge Highway
Heiskell @ Bull Run Valley
