Salute to Healthcare event will help connect veterans with healthcare options

As our community honors our nation’s fallen heroes this Memorial Day, East Tennessee-based InterFaith Health Center continues working to provide comprehensive healthcare to servicemembers who may not qualify for federal health benefits.
On Wednesday, May 28 from noon until 4 p.m., InterFaith will host “Salute to Healthcare”, a free event that will provide giveaways, free food, screenings for veterans, as well as opportunities to learn more about the important health services InterFaith provides. Salute to Healthcare will take place at 315 Gill Ave. in Knoxville.
More than half of Tennessee’s veterans do not have government-sponsored TRICARE health insurance coverage, leaving many of them without health insurance coverage. InterFaith plans to help close that gap.
This event is made possible thanks in part to to a grant from Trinity Health Foundation. Late last year, InterFaith received the nearly $150,000 grant to implement the Saluting Service – Bridging Gaps in Veteran Healthcare Access project.
