Travis Wegener Car Show & Ribbon Cutting for New Playground Equipment

This Saturday, the Powell community will come together for the annual Travis Wegener Car Show, a beloved local tradition that honors the life and legacy of Travis Wegener while raising funds for community enhancement projects in Powell. This year’s event will include a special ribbon cutting to celebrate the installation of new playground equipment at Powell Station Park, donated through the Travis Wegener Enhance Powell Fund.

The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 8 a.m. with remarks at 10 a.m. in Powell High School’s parking lot and will feature a wide array of classic and custom cars, family-friendly activities, and community celebrations. The ribbon cutting will recognize the most recent contribution made possible by the car show’s proceeds, a commercial-grade swing set.

Over the past decade, the Travis Wegener Enhance Powell Fund has supported numerous outdoor and recreational projects across the Powell area, including:

  • A disc golf course adjacent to Powell High School
  • Development of the Collier Plantation with Legacy Parks Foundation
  • Contributions to the Angora Frog Farm
  • Outdoor fitness equipment at Powell Station Park

Thanks to strong community support and the dedication of Dr. Wegener and the Tennessee Valley Mustang Club, 100% of proceeds from the car show go directly into the Travis Wegener Enhance Powell Fund.

“This event reflects the power of community, and the legacy one life can leave behind,” said Joe Mack, Senior Director of Knox County Parks and Rec. “Knox County is proud to partner with the Wegener family and the Powell community on these impactful projects.”

All are invited to attend and enjoy a day of community, cars, and celebration in honor of Travis Wegener and the lasting impact of his memory.
