The annual meeting of the Seymour Farmers Market is Saturday, April 8th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the community room of the Seymour Branch Library.

Seymour Farmers Market is a non-profit organization with the mission of keeping agriculture part of the Seymour community’s heritage by encouraging gardening and small farming. Membership is open to all in the community who support this mission.

“We sponsor the Saturday summer markets to encourage farmers and gardeners in our community by providing a venue for them to sell produce they have grown,” Marjie Richardson, Market Manager, told The Focus. “These markets also function as a means to build friendships, share agricultural knowledge and develop community relationships in our area made up of three counties and a diverse population.  Guidelines and operational policies for these markets are decided at our annual membership meeting.

“We encourage local farmers and gardeners to become a part of our market if you have extra produce or other agricultural products, which you have grown or made yourself. We adhere to the FDA guidelines for agricultural safety for producing and marketing.  Our website, SeymourFarmersMarket.org, gives details.”

Early registration for the season will be Saturday, May 5 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Seymour First Baptist Church where the summer market is held. If you have questions, you may contact Marjie Richardson at 865-453-0130.

Local crafters who are interested in becoming a part of our market, may submit an application at seymourfarmersmarket.tn@gmail.com The number of vendors selling only non-agricultural crafts that can be hosted is limited. These craft vendors are selected by a committee for each season, please send your applications in April for consideration.  Guidelines for types of crafts considered are given on the website.  Decisions will be made by early May.
