Without a shadow of doubt, Whitney Duncan had the best fan party in Nashville during CMA week. While other artists rented out big restaurants, and had expensive sound machines and charged ridiculous amounts of money, Whitney Duncan brought it all back to the basics. On Thursday, June 3rd 2013, Whitney Duncan performed an absolute acoustic set at Buffalo’s. No microphones, no big band, no monitoring board, and no cover charge. Just 2 chairs a guitar and an amazing singing voice. The 3rd annual fan appreciation party reminded me a lot of the campfire days….just a girl and her guitar.
Sometimes in a world of auto tune, big record labels, and extravagant events… it is the simple basic fan appreciation party that wins out. She arrived early and stayed late, signed autographs, hugged fans, and answered every question asked. On top of it all, this event was put together by her fan club. All I can say is: “great job!” Many fan clubs charge anywhere from $30 to $75 for a 5 second meet and greet and a photo…Duncan’s team brought back the original meaning of “Fan fair” and hosted an event for the fans and by the fans.
